GALLERY XX1

The Gallery is located in the former workshop of the famous sculptor Xawery Dunikowski, who died in 1964. Since 1968, it has hosted the Gallery of Sculpture. When the gallery was run by Ewa Golik, it was dominated by spatial practice, installations, and conceptual art. Works exposed here include those of: Włodzimierz Borowski, Koji Kamoji, Edward Krasiński, Ryszard Ługowski, and Waldemar Petryk. In 1996, sculptor-artist Dariusz Kowalski became the gallery’s director. He prefers presenting sculptures in the traditional sense of the word.

Since the beginning of 2001, the gallery has been functioning under the current name within a new organizational structure – that of the Mazovia Region Centre of Culture and Arts. The programme under realisation includes sculpture, installations, painting, and photography. The gallery is geared towards innovative experiments and experimental achievements in the areas in which modern artists from Poland and other countries operate.

In the last years, some of the artists whose works were presented in the gallery included: Jan Berdyszak, Jacek Jagielski, Tomasz Domański, Joanna Rajkowska, Roman Woźniak, Anja Jensen, Thorsten Goldberg, Jarosław Modzelewski, Ryszard Woźniak, Piotr Kurka, Marcin Berdyszak, Zbigniew Warpechowski, Zbigniew Libera, Przemysław Kwiek, Jan Świdziński, Marek Konieczny, Joanna Rajkowska, Robert Kuśmirowski, Jan Mioduszewski, and Anna Baumgart.

The gallery collaborates with curates and art critics: Grzegorz Borkowski, Eulalia Domanowska, Anna Maria Leśniewska, Agnieszka Rayzacher, Kazimierz Piotrowski, Joanna Turowicz, and Agnieszka Żechowska.

The Gallery also has an educational bent – there are meetings with artists and lectures done by art historians and curates.
The Gallery has at its disposal two exhibition spaces – the main room and a smaller one, known under a separate name of the "Kuchnia" (Kitchen) Gallery, which aims mostly to promote young creators.
