The Mazovian Gallery, which is located in the Mazovian Voivodenship Administrative Office Building (Mazowiecki Urząd Wojewódzki, Plac Bankowy 3/5, main entrance, ground floor) is a special exposition space. The expositions here have enormous potential to reach the viewer – thanks to a great flow of people, the works presented here are seen by city and voivodenship leaders, people whose position calls for them to deal with culture. Therefore the expositions are not without their impact – and what is especially important – often find their continuation in other galleries in Warsaw, in other Mazovian towns, and even in galleries in many Polish cities.

It is a perfect place to present and promote the art of Mazovia and its artists. Expositions of great popularity included, for instance, those of Andrzej Dziurawiec or Piotr Komincz. And not only – also much frequented were expositions which spoke of the former “Borderlands” (Kresy), Poland’s current neighbours (photography exposition: “The Palaces and Manors of Kresy”), from the cycle „Our neighbour Lithuania” (2007: „Vilnius and its surroundings”, „Vilnius and contexts”, „Winter in the Vilnius Area”) which are also an attempt to undertake permanent Polish-Lithuanian cooperation in the area of expositions, as well as a desire to show and support the work of the best Polish artists from Lithuania. The expositions also give a certain panorama of the artistic possibilities of the artists, who are often the heirs of the borderland tradition, in whose works one can often feel the echoes of a multicultural heritage. Thanks to this, the gallery has been able to gather around itself a group of people, among others art lovers, university professors and students, as well as artists.

The turnout for these expositions, their echo in the media has shown the importance of such presentations. In a letter to the Director of the Mazovia Region Centre of Culture and Art, Polish Parliament Speaker (Marszałek) Bronisław Komorowski wrote as follows:

„The series of expositions, dedicated to Lithuania, will surely bring the beautiful parts of the country closer to viewers. It will also allow them to get to know modern painting. I am convinced that looking at the surrounding reality through artists’ eyes will be an impulse for viewers to explore more deeply the rich culture of our close neighbour.”

Due to the special nature of the place, the Mazovian Gallery has proved itself to be the best venue for expositions which are addressed to a wide audience, not advanced artistic experiments. That is why the planned expositions usually draw from the best traditions in easel-painting, graphic art, and photography; they show the beauty of Mazovia, the works of artists from other regions of Poland and abroad, as well as young artists.

It is important to emphasize that the Mazovian Gallery of the Mazovia Region Centre of Culture and Arts presents its expositions here on the basis of an agreement with the Mazovia Voivodenship Administrative Office (Mazowiecki Urząd Wojewódzki), which also has its own exposition plans and organizes its own expositions here.
